Baleal is THE place for surfing in Portugal. It is a tiny town with just two streets. It is almost an island as it is connected with the mainland by one street over the beach.
Baleal was one of our favorite spots on our Europe with baby trip due to its relaxed surf vibes. Despite the many beginner surf schools, it is still a top destination for experienced surfers.
My daily life during that week:
- going for an early morning walk with baby nomad,
- having a coffee in a surfer cafe and watching the surfers at the beach;
- reading / researching at home / surfing
- having late lunch
- and finally going to the beach again 🙂
- ending up in a bar in the evening (with the sleeping baby in the pram)
Baleal was our last stop in Portugal with our 5 month old baby. At that point we were traveling for 3 months exploring 4 countries. Everything went really well. The only health issue we were facing were stomachache. Caraway suppository were doing a very god job treating them. I had once an eye infection after surfing and was treating them with saline drops that we had with us for our baby. Check out more about our first aid kit for baby.
We rented our apartment in Baleal over Baleal Rentals. As Baleal is quite a small place, there are not as many offers over Airbnb. This apartment was just behind the dunes next to the surfer beach and worth the price.
Cost per night: 95 €
